Tell us a little about yourself and the role you play in your business.
First and foremost, I believe in God and strive to put Him first, followed by family, and then work. As a native Texan with over 47 years in the construction industry, I began my journey into homebuilding through cabinet and trim work alongside my dad. My grandfather was also a carpenter. I purchased the business from Jim Dunaway three and a half years ago. Jim and I have a great relationship, and he continues to work for the company.
How long have you been a member?
The company has been a part of ETBA for over 30 years. Jim set a long tradition of leadership and support, and I joined along with the company over three years ago.
What experiences and past roles have led you to where you are today?
I’ve been fortunate to lead and participate in a wide range of construction projects, from homebuilding to commercial and industrial, while traveling across the U.S. I’ve held roles from grunt to VP/Owner. Maintaining an ownership mindset, even when I wasn’t the owner, has been one of the key factors in my success.
Fun fact that people probably don’t know about you!
I am an Army Veteran. I served overseas in Desert Shield, Desert Storm, and Desert Calm.
What career advice do you live by? Who gave it to you?
Servant Leadership. My Dad and Mom instilled in me the importance of sincerity, honesty, and respect for others, reminding me to never consider myself superior to anyone, regardless of my role or situation.
What’s your favorite place you’ve traveled to?
US – Rocky Mountain National Park. Abroad – maybe Dubrovnik, Croatia and Venice, Italy
